Stop and Think

It seems that when we hurry and we are behind, just tripping over red lights. Although irritating when we run to an appointment, the lights are there for our protection.

We also need traffic lights throughout our day. Hard work and agendas well charged with interruptions need time for recreation and reflection. Without that we seriously ill with ailments caused by stress. The time devoted to recreation and relaxation can rejuvenate our spirit. This poem W.H. Davies tells us to take time to pause and consider:

What is this life if, full of worries,
do not have time to stop and contemplate.
No time to stand under the branches
And stare at the sheep or cows.
No time to see, when passing through forests,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see the full light of day,
Streams full of stars, as stars of the night.
There are two ways to pass along our busy lives. One is to stop thinking. The second is to stop and think. Many live on the first shape. Fill every hour with ceaseless activity. They dare not be alone. No time for quiet reflection on life. The second way, stop and think, is to contemplate what life is and to what end we live. The literal meaning of the word Sabbath is to stop doing what you're doing.

On this day, give yourself a mini-vacation for five to ten minutes. Just stay quiet and listen to what God says. Spend time alone with God.

A Happy Life is Peace of Mind. Marcus Tullius Cicero

1 Timothy 6:17 ... God gives us everything in abundance for our enjoyment.
